Strategist, keynote speaker, community connector & and justice advocate. Let’s make an impact together.
Hi, I’m Joan.
I’m a strategist, keynote speaker, community connector, and justice advocate with more than 20 years of experience helping individuals, organizations, and coalitions elevate their voices and build movements for equity. I’m passionate about bringing people together—with compelling narratives, deep empathy, and actionable strategies.
Why I Speak
Tackling unconscious Bias & DEI
I’ve led dozens of bias-awareness workshops for students, educators, faith groups, and nonprofit teams. I help individuals recognize implicit bias and shift behavior toward inclusion and belonging.
Building Community & Collective Power
I founded Read, Talk, Act, an interfaith book club on race and justice born after the tragedy at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church. We build understanding through literature—and translate learning into action in our communities.
Black–Jewish Solidarity in Civil Rights
My work bridges Black and Jewish histories of resistance, rooted in the shared legacy of the civil rights movement. I commemorate that relationship through public education, interfaith platforms, and community events.
I am currently booking speaking engagements, training series, and plenary presentations for conferences, universities, nonprofits, schools, and businesses.
